{"id":39,"date":"2007-12-06T14:49:13","date_gmt":"2007-12-06T19:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cimarusti.com\/mentalsketchbook\/?p=39"},"modified":"2009-06-22T14:49:34","modified_gmt":"2009-06-22T19:49:34","slug":"mcreport-card","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cimarusti.com\/scott\/artisticcustom\/?p=39","title":{"rendered":"McReport Card"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I couldn&#8217;t believe when I read <a href=\"http:\/\/featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com\/features_julieshealthclub\/2007\/12\/mcdonalds-ads-h.html\">an article in the Chicago Tribune<\/a> about a school district in Seminole County, Florida that allowed McDonald&#8217;s to place advertisements on the report cards that went out to grade school children (K-5), promising free Happy Meals to students with good grades and\/or attendance.<\/p>\n<p>I agree completely with the article&#8217;s author, that there&#8217;s nothing wrong with rewarding good grades with a trip to McDonald&#8217;s or some other fast-food restaurant that the kids enjoy&#8230; But what I find troubling is to have a commercial product tied so directly and so blatantly to something like education&#8211;especially fast food in a society that is already plagued by obesity.
