My TiVo is Evil

Well, not really evil…  Devious, perhaps.

I’ve been making a concerted effort lately to limit my TV viewing.  I’ve always been of the opinion that my time could be better spent on more noble and creative pursuits, but after a full day of work, school assignments, household chores, and seemingly unending battles of wits with my kids (and occasionally, my wife), sometimes all I want to do is relax on the couch with some passive entertainment.

But my  TiVo doesn’t want it that way.

It knows the shows that I like.  Even though I have not asked it to, it records reruns of such beloved shows as Cheers and Seinfeld–episodes I’ve almost committed to memory and offer the comfort and predictability that is so lacking in every other aspect of my life.

I appreciate the thought, TiVo, and you’re doing a great job, but I’m afraid I must break this spell you’ve cast over me.
